On my way back from the grocery in the late afternoon sun. Parked, discarded, as far as it could practically go out of the supermarket lot and far enough from the owner’s home to implicate guilt. Safely nestled now in the pines off Catalpa.
All Beef Hot Dog
It may look small way down there at the end of the aisle but it is actually quite large. And all beef to boot. Scenes like this always call to me. Majestic and iconic. Almost inappropriate. If I could paint I’d do this scene in oils. John Michaels…are you listening…
Fresh Cuts of Faux
Downtown carnival with a new prize offering: fresh hanging cuts of fury faux lions and tigers. Like fuzzy sides of meat in a butcher’s playland. Or something like that. (Shhh…they’re sleeping…)
Non-Rangefinder Break
Like many snap addicts across the land, I have been living with a condition known as Hipstamatic. I hear it will naturally run its course and leave the system in weeks. But right now I am in the thick of it. Fun but fake old photos. And returning to my home via Amtrak, passing through Detroit, I hade to do a Hipstamatic study outside the train windows. Here are but a few of what I could get in between the iPhone choking on low processing power:
Because Dirt Goes With Everything
From a recent trip to NYC. Cigar store window display and all the class it promises from sitting in the sun under smoke haze and dirt crumble. Reminds me of how well (or not) Moonraker has stood the test of time. (And yes I know, that’s not Roger Moore down there under all that filth…)
Meat Lovers
Sometime meat and sausage slices catch my eye when en route to anywhere really, especially if they are wrapped around anything drivable. This falls into my DELICIOUS category of reproduced food. I enjoy the way edible product shots quickly lose their appeal after a long and dirty winter.
Or consider this rack of meat on another delivery van that looks like the bony remains of some giant airborne creature after violently crashing to the ground:
Waiting On The 9…Almost Over
The M9 is backordered – although ordered – and the 35mm is still at Leica NJ for calibration and restoration (since January). If anyone is interested, the M8 (with new M8.2 shutter and corrected framelines) may soon be on ebay.
UPDATE: the M9 arrived but like so many things in life that have to be done at least 2 times before it can be right), it went back with a sensor/processor error and should be back next week. 35mm lens back and now wonderfully accurate. A difference of night & day.
There Are 9 Million New Yorkers…
And all of them were out this last weekend due to extremely pleasant temps in the 70s. Mr. Softies were on patrol as well. Now if we can just find this dog and cat a home we’d be in business.
Reminds me a little of this “portrait” I did years ago for a friend…
