Early morning in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, a pigeon drinks water and eats bread crumbs from the tender cement prints of Morgan Freeman, Bird Feeder.

Images from the service area of an old car dealership in Los Angeles. On one stripped wall, the interesting association of an American flag with a greasy castle.

Merry Christmas, heading into 2012, a year I never thought would come. Meanwhile downtown Detroit, a streetside window on Woodward sends it’s bright light holiday chill into the air. Plenty of seats left for singing, souping and lecturing.

Back from Chicago’s Black Cloud Gallery and the Beginnings exhibition opening with my flag photo (thanks all, wonderful time) and I find a packet in the mail of The Sun Magazine copies (thanks Sun!) with a photo of mine inside. Sent it a couple years ago, a familiar sight in Santa Monica for anyone who has spent months of their life there. November 2011 issue, page 28.

Meet Kay Freeman, Mounty Queen of Mangum OK. A shag-carpeted trophy room dedicated to her equestrian achievements in the Mangum, OK museum. A wonderful place to see the town’s history and Oklahoma’s past. Peek your head into here and turn to the right…you’ll find the award leftovers in a corner basket. More from Mangum coming soon.

My old Eastside elementary school in Niles, Michigan is returning to life. Recently closed by a questionable school board decision it is now reopening as a magnet institution. Walking through the empty classrooms I photographed the frayed and well-displayed flags. K thru 6 memories at each location.
