Merry Christmas, heading into 2012, a year I never thought would come. Meanwhile downtown Detroit, a streetside window on Woodward sends it’s bright light holiday chill into the air. Plenty of seats left for singing, souping and lecturing.

A couple images of abandonment, not in architecture, but humanity. Downtown Detroit at a July 4th celebration years ago…

Nestled there in the pines off of Woodward Avenue, downtown Detroit, a lovely painting. Steps from the sidewalk, out of all context. Part of a DIA “out of home” display. Near the Fox Theater.

I see from South Woodward Ave. a new spire going up. If you could look around to the side of this construction you’d see that it spans a dozen or so football fields. I mean this is going to be big. HUGE.

Finally, a few selects from last year’s International Bigtime Wrestling event in Mexicantown, Detroit. There was wonderful food, fake blood (no really), fantastic showmanship, and some menacing escaped convicts just hanging out with the kids. Originally posted about this back in July, 2009.
Go to www.mvlimbert.com for an index.

At the counter of an area Coney Island. A hint of health behind (or in front of) every chili cheese fry and coney dog.

A lone service call in the middle of an empty Motor Mall in Warren, MI. There are several lots around here, linked together by similar No Trespassing/Electronic Surveillance signs.

Downtown Detroit, 2009: a herd of deer were spotted in chalk on the side of a building badly in need of rescue (both building and deer). Much like the lion van below, these creatures are penned safely behind a fence. Of sorts.

Furniture, finance free. New Year’s special. Looking for a fold-out sofa sleeper type deal. Nothing but fuzzy foamy floppy things.
