Searching the web quite by accident I discovered I took home a BRONZE in the People’s Choice award in last year’s 2011 PX3 Prix de la Photographie, Paris for my photobook “state fair” (the “Other” category). Entries from over 85 countries. Got no notice, never would have known. See it for your self here at Blurb.

Back from Chicago’s Black Cloud Gallery and the Beginnings exhibition opening with my flag photo (thanks all, wonderful time) and I find a packet in the mail of The Sun Magazine copies (thanks Sun!) with a photo of mine inside. Sent it a couple years ago, a familiar sight in Santa Monica for anyone who has spent months of their life there. November 2011 issue, page 28.
Was notified that one of my flag images below from Eastside School has been chosen to be shown at Black Cloud Gallery in Chicago (1909 South Halsted) as part of The Filter Photo Festival’s “Beginnings: Stories and Starting Points” Opening reception is Oct. 14, 2011…see you there.

My old Eastside elementary school in Niles, Michigan is returning to life. Recently closed by a questionable school board decision it is now reopening as a magnet institution. Walking through the empty classrooms I photographed the frayed and well-displayed flags. K thru 6 memories at each location.
