Just so you know, there are bargains yet to be had in front of Harry Winston, W 56th and 5th NYC. REAL designer jewelry for only $10. (And if you look at Google Street View, you’ll see the sale has been going on for some time.)
Radio Berlin International
Nothing to do with photography, but since we’re at the anniversary of the Berlin wall tumbling down, I think back and remember, as a shortwave-listening DX-obsessed lad, the last broadcast of East Germany’s Radio Berlin International. RBI was a great catch for us SWL fans as their QSL package often included pennants, booklets, bookmarks and other gifts. Their last broadcast was 2nd Oct., 1990, before RBI was absorbed by Radio Deutsche Welle. Interesting to listen to now as the final program was tinged with bitterness at the unification. Hear for yourself in 2 parts…
Challenge at Monticello Motor Club
Returned from Monticello, NY and the CTS-V (Bob Lutz) Challenge (search the web for more info and race results). Started very rainy & cloudy, but sunshine prevailed and so did the Cadillac CTS-V. Most of what I shot was HD video, so until I sort through my stills, here are a couple images that caught my eye from around the Monticello Motor Clubhouse…
UPDATE: yes, my footage used well on SpeedChannel’s half hour CTS-V Challenge show from December 8.
Service Call
A lone service call in the middle of an empty Motor Mall in Warren, MI. There are several lots around here, linked together by similar No Trespassing/Electronic Surveillance signs.
Street Photography: Documenting the Human Condition
Stumbled across this on LightStalkers; a fantastic documentary on street photography by Chris Weeks. “Street Photography: Documenting the Human Condition.” In three parts, begins here:
Downtown Detroit Deer
Downtown Detroit, 2009: a herd of deer were spotted in chalk on the side of a building badly in need of rescue (both building and deer). Much like the lion van below, these creatures are penned safely behind a fence. Of sorts.

Olde New York Street
What does one find when strolling AnyStreet, USA in backdropstudioland? A bent lamp post with a pop can in the socket. A light rig hiding behind the curtains of a quaint book store. And bicycles in the Chocolat Shoppe. AnyStreet USA. A curious familiarity from a scene you seen. Somewhere late at night. In a theater near you.
